DISCUSSION 1- PHYSICAL VS VIRTUAL EDUCATION
In today’s world, Education
plays a very significant role in everyone’s life. From basic calculations till
undertaking huge projects of designing buildings, education is must and has a
very important position which cannot be replaced. But at present, Coronavirus
has gripped the entire world. Education is one sector that is incurring massive
losses and has been intensely impacted.
My today’s discussion is
concerned with the 2 forms of education- Physical and Virtual. So why getting
late, let’s begin…..
Students have always preferred
physical classes over virtual classes. One of the major reasons being- studies
turn out to be all the more stimulating and engaging. There are well planned
lectures with interesting and provocative activities that boosts the
concentration of students. On the other hand, virtual classes can become really
irritating and boring at times. You just have to sit at one place and keep
gazing at the screen kept in front of you. There are absolutely no
thought-provoking or exuberant activities that can be conducted during virtual
classes.
Secondly, in classroom
learning, students get to clarify their doubts face-to-face with the teacher.
This interaction enables the students to comprehend their doubts effectively.
Whereas, in virtual classes children do not get the benefit of clarifying their
doubts with the teacher efficiently.
Schools contribute in the
overall development of a student- in fields of academics as well as sports.
Children get the exposure of participating in various pursuits and competently
work on improving their weaker sections. They can procure the platform for
showcasing their talents, go for various trips and enrol themselves in several
clubs. But, in virtual schooling, students lack behind on this major factor.
They do not get the experience of outing with their friends and registering in
different clubs. This affects their overall development and progress.
Physical classes do not give us
a comfortable environment wherein we can laze around easily, keeping snacking
along with studying etc… instead, they prepare us for the future to face
challenges in the outer world courageously. It does not offer us a luxurious
and lavish atmosphere unlike Virtual classes. Virtual classes cannot prepare
any student to overcome all their hardships in life without losing faith in
them. Hence, moral values can only be inculcated by students at schools.
Virtual classes can be too
expensive for parents of less fortunate children. Virtual classes require an
excellent Wi-Fi connection speed along with a good electronic device. These
needs cannot be afforded and fulfilled by each parent. What should children of
such parents do? Do they have to sit at home idly and not get educated? Hence,
physical schooling is more appreciated than virtual schooling. Also, due to a
drastic increase in the on-screen time of children due this new form of teaching,
stress-levels on eyes has intensified. Due to this, many students’ eye sight is
getting hampered.
As a coin has two different
sides, even physical classes have some disadvantages and virtual classes can
prove to be beneficial.
When you are a part of Virtual
classes, you tend to become independent in terms of doing your own work. You realise
the actual importance of studying and will not let your parents involve while
you study. You will want to devout your full concentration on mastering concepts
and lessons. But, in physical classes, students prefer to gain their parents
and teachers attention. They don’t have the will to study independently and
with their full attention and deliberation.
During virtual classes, decorum
is maintained by the teachers. They are stricter and keep the children on their
toes. It is very difficult to manage an entire class of students physically. Maintaining
the decorum of an entire class of students and keeping them in discipline is
really challenging for a teacher.
Lastly, when studying at home
virtually, there is a saving of the travel time. Time is a very precious gift
given to us by god. Students can utilise that time prolifically, whereas, in
physical classes, travel time cannot be avoided, compromising on some productivity.
The conclusion which we can
draw from this discussion is, Physical schooling has evidently been a more
preferable, desirable and eminent option of schooling. Yet, Virtual classes are
also getting enhanced by schools so that the same liveliness can be exhibited
by the children virtually.
Hence, both kinds of schooling
have their pros and cons, but the one which prevails in each student’s heart is Physical schooling. The reason is, ‘’What is the fun of attending a class, where
the teacher is not the victim of our plan, where we cannot talk and team up
with our friends, where studies are not enjoyable and fascinating…. Because the
real fun lies when we are together and wish for the best of our extended
family- Our Beloved School’’
