India- Land of Great Heritage!!
India is a land of vivid history and great heritage.
Ancient India was a blend of innumerable conquests of different kings, the
capture of various provinces, the enslavement of the lower castes and many
major developments as well.
The word India came from the Greek Word ‘Indoi’
which means the people who lived near river Indus. Once India had joined Asia
and Himalayas had risen, the land resembled a lot to the place where we
currently live.
Archaeologists have enabled us to enhance our
history by excavating the various remains of our past.
The early humans were not as intelligent as we are
now. They did not have a particular language through which they could
communicate. They could not write or maintain records. Nevertheless, they had
created the foundation for us to build upon today.
- The first evidence of the Stone Age culture in India surfaced in Karnataka as early as in 1842 when Dr. Primrose discovered polished stone knives and arrow heads
The earliest people all over the world were said to
belong to the Palaeolithic Age. ‘Palaeo’ means Old and ‘Lithic’ means Stone.
Hence, Palaeolithic Age is also called the Old Stone Age.
Bhimbetka Caves and Belum Caves are Palaeolithic sites
that have remains of Palaeolithic tools.
In earlier days, animals were in a better condition
than humans. Most of the animals had developed senses and characteristics. But,
the life of humans was in grave danger. Hence, to protect themselves and find
food, they began making Stone tools.
By this deed of theirs, we get to learn a very
significant lesson of life, which implies in all our situations: ‘’Need gives
the birth to Innovation.’’
